Reminder: our field trip to the Children's museum is on Wednesday!
Here is what has happened...
Today we are beginning to work with clay in art with Mrs. Crawford. This week we are practicing different techniques and learning how clay behaves. Next week we will start projects made of clay we that will be fired and sent home.
Last week we had a lot of really fun Earth Day activities. We started with an art project with Mrs. Crawford based on the art of Andrew Goldsworthy. These were pieces that were made knowing that we would be returning the materials back to nature.
We even found a little friend.
Working with 5th grade buddies we took a look at how water becomes polluted and tried to invent some ways using cups, coffee filters, plastic wrap, gloves, and spoons to clean up our little ponds. Sadly, we found that polluted water is extremely difficult to clean, and decided it is better to try to keep the pollution out!
At the beginning of the month we started a new science unit working with animals. We had some class fish that we used to get smarter in science. We compared and contrasted goldfish and guppies, and learned a little bit about how to take care of fish.
We have been working hard and having a lot of fun!
