Science: Rolling Solids

Today in science we worked with solids to see what would roll the best and farthest down a ramp. We got to push all of our tables out of the way and set up our ramps on the floor so we could measure how far the different objects rolled.

We also learned the difference between rolling and sliding.

Rolling: an objects tumbling over itself (like summersaults)
Sliding: moving in one direction smoothly without tumbling over (like going down a playground slide)

Take a look at the scientists in action!

Here is the data we collected showing that the rubber sphere rolled the farthest distance, and the transparent cylinder rolled the shortest distance.
